Pignblatt, Abraham


Son of Pasa and Leib, was born in 1921 in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. At the beginning of the Second World War he fled from Poland to Russia and was forced to work there like other refugees. After the war he returned to Poland and when he realized that no remnant of his family had survived, he set off on a journey westward. In 1946 he arrived in Israel on the illegal immigration route and worked in a building materials trade house in Haifa. Avraham enlisted in the War of Independence, served in the 8th Brigade and participated in Operation Danny. He fell in an attack on the Lod police on July 11, 1948. On July 1, 1953, he was transferred to the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
