Dan (Danny), son of Hannah and Haim, was born in Rehovot on February 17, 1946, the day of the Hagana’s attack on the Sharona police. His parents, Chaim and Chana, activists of the Zionist movement in the Czech Republic, fled with the Nazi invasion and came to Israel as “illegal” immigrants. After years of shaking, they built their home in Ramat Hen, near Ramat Gan. The childhood of Danny and his brother Amos – six years older than him – was mostly in this place. Danny was especially handsome and handsome, both in childhood and in adulthood. He attended elementary school in Ramat-Hen. Already as a child, he had the same basic qualities that characterized him as an adult: a sense of responsibility for every task, both imposed upon him and one that he believed was necessary; Love and devotion to others; Involvement in what is happening around him – in the family circle, among his friends, and in Israeli society in general; A curiosity with a great deal of reading material on various subjects, and the ability to apply the knowledge he acquired in order to understand what is happening around him every day. He had the joy of life and the ability to enjoy material and spiritual things; A sense of humor and a talent for imitation, which brought joy and joy to him and to others. As an adult, he joined in a wonderful harmony, strength and strength with a lot of gentleness and gentleness, seriousness with a sense of humor, shyness and seclusion with a willingness to “fall apart” in society. It is possible that thanks to this mixture he greatly influenced his friends, and therefore his leadership power has been evident since his childhood. In 1960 Danny began studying at the Blich High School in Ramat Gan. At that time he was active in the Scouts movement and was one of the founders of the Scouts tribe in Ramat-Chen and the head of the tribe. He devoted much interest to music and knowledge of the country, was a member of the Gadna Rifle Club and completed a course for battalion commanders in the framework of the Gadna. In 1962 he realized his wish and moved to the military boarding school near the Reali School in Haifa. Dan was drafted into the IDF in early October 1965 and assigned to the Armored Corps. As part of his service, he underwent a series of courses in the Armored Corps, including the course of a rifle commander and a paratroopers course. In the opinion of his commanders: “An outstanding, efficient, dedicated and responsible officer, accepted and loved by his subordinates, his achievements at high work, he invests much effort and will to carry out his tasks, he is energetic and ambitious, Brave, alert, very responsible and entrepreneurial, reliable and loyal. ” During his service he served as an officer in various command and staff positions, and reached the rank of captain after serving for two years in the career army. Because of his outstanding achievements, his commanders urged him to continue serving in the regular army and tie his future in the army. But Danny wanted to learn and expand his horizons. He first studied in the pre-academic preparatory program, and later in the Faculty of Social Sciences, in political science and sociology. In September 1970 he married his girlfriend Nirit, and in August 1972 their eldest son was born with me. Despite his great pleasure in learning and his great happiness in the family of his small family, he felt that he was not doing enough for his own future. He tried to tie his work to support his family with the fulfillment of his values - he was a Gadna counselor and a center for the Beit Hakerem Scouts, but after that he decided to return to serve in the army in late 1972, and it was very difficult for him to be far from his family , But he believed that this role should be filled by people who chose this out of their free will and with full recognition of their duty and with a deep understanding of who they serve. He spent his third year in the army as a soldier, and he had time to devote himself to his family and engage in the things he loved for a very active service, two months before the war broke out, and returned to the army as deputy commander of a regular battalion. On the morning of Sunday, October 7, 1973, the second day of the war, Danny was alone in the air, after he managed to break through the encirclement of Tel-Saki in a single tank, and to get off the mountain A small number of tanks, the remnants of various forces, took command of about six tanks and went to the oil pipeline to protect the volume, the bridge of the daughters of Jacob and the Jordan Valley. He was brought to rest in the military section of the Kiryat Shaul cemetery and left behind a wife, son and daughter, parents and brother, and his daughter, Dana, was born six months after his death.
