Perlmutter, Ze’ev (Zevik)

Perlmutter, Ze’ev (Zevik)

Son of Shmuel and Rivka. He was born on 26.6.1946 in Poland and immigrated to Israel with his parents at the age of two. He studied at an elementary school in Ramat Gan and at the Kalai High School in Givatayim. After graduating from high school he was accepted to the Hebrew Technion in Haifa, to the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, within the framework of the academic reserve. Ze’ev was drafted into the IDF at the end of August 1964, and after completing his studies at the Technion (1967) he was assigned to the Artillery Corps. As part of the corps, he underwent an officer training course and at the end he was noted as an outstanding trainee. He was honest and with himself, knew what he wanted and stuck to the tasks he set for himself. The public good always stood before him and he proved it when he decided – after serving a year in the officers’ school and could continue to serve there – to move to an operational service in Sinai, even though he was the only child; In so doing, he sought to contribute his personal part to the war effort. His commanders and subordinates appreciated him very much and he was worthy of their assessment. On May 7, 1970, Lieutenant-Colonel Ze’ev was killed and laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
