Percy, Shimon
Shimon, son of Aziza and Yechezkel Percy, was born on February 25, 1926, in Zochi, Iraq. When he was six months old, during the month of Elul 5626, the family immigrated to Israel, Shimon grew up in Jerusalem in the Zichron Moshe neighborhood. He joined the army at the end of December 1947, serving in Atarot and Neve Yaakov. Shimon went out with a few soldiers to bring weapons to the university and the Hadassah hospital on Mount Scopus. On his way to the mountain, in the vicinity of Sheikh Jarrah, the vehicle boarded a mine and its passengers fought to the last bullet. Shimon was injured and died in the armored vehicle on the fifteenth of Adar 5708 (February 25, 1948). He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Sanhedria in Jerusalem.
