Ozeri, Zechariah (Zocharov)


Son of Sarah and Issachar was born on April 1, 1926, in Egypt. He suffered from a difficult childhood. Zechariah immigrated to Israel in 1933. In the summer of 1943, Zechariah joined the Palmach, helped with the immigration of illegal immigrants, and transferred weapons. He worked in kibbutz Ashdot Ya’akov, but the situation at home forced him to return to the city to support his family. After the outbreak of the War of Independence, Zechariah enlisted and served in the “Kiryati” Brigade, where he participated in sabotage operations around Tel Aviv in which he saw as his role. On the 26th of Iyar, May 26, 1948, fell in the Moledet neighborhood when a Molotov cocktail exploded, and Zechariah threw himself on the bottle to save a platoon he had trained. He was laid to rest in the Military Cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
