Oren, Matityahu


Son of Yosef and Golda. He was born in 1946 and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1951. He studied at the Magles Elementary School in the Negev and at the two-year high school in Beit Hagadi and was a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement and active in the Gadna. His parents were old, his brothers were small, and his older brother studied far from home (in Jerusalem); Therefore Matityahu was forced to work in his father’s farm, but he developed it and nurtured it until it was one of the most successful in his village. He is mainly caring for the garden of the nun with dedication and love, for for him the land of Israel and the land of the homeland were the essence of his life. He later settled in the village, established a farm, was accepted as a member and worked in both farms with great success. He worked and worked in various branches of agriculture and came to the aid of all those who demanded it. Matityahu was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of August 1964, and after his discharge from the regular army he would leave reserve duty on a regular basis on Sunday, July 24, 1971. He was laid to rest at the cemetery in Netivot. In the regional religious school of Sde Zvi, a library and a study room were named after him; The Merchavim Regional Council, the village committee and members of his family planted trees and erected a plaque in his honor and the memory of fallen IDF soldiers.
