Oppenheim, Reuven (Ruvka)


Son of Elka and Shmuel, was born on the 1st of Cheshvan, October, 27, 1927 in Poland. After suffering during World War Two, he arrived in Israel in 1947. Only a few months later, the War of Independence broke out, and he joined the ranks and served in Brigade 7. When the Legion entered the battle in the Jerusalem area, the situation in the city worsened, and the road to it was cut off by the enemy. The first attack on the Latrun alignment failed. On May 30-31 our forces attacked again, and failed. He fell on the 21st of Iyar, May 30, 1948, and was buried as an unknown person, in the Naan kibbutz. On May 18, 1950, he was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
