Oppenheim, Gustav
Born in Austria in 1903, he grew up and studied in Vienna. Was an avid athlete and football porter “Power Vienna” for five years. He was known for his kind personality, a good friend and right to help others in times of trouble, and also as a devoted Zionist, and in 1932 immigrated to Eretz Israel. He continued to play sports in Israel and was a goalkeeper in Maccabi Tel Aviv. A few years before World War II he went on business to Egypt. At the outbreak of the war in 1939 he enlisted in the British Army and rose to the rank of lieutenant. On April 18, 1945, he died at the time of his service in Al-Jaziriya from a Lev attack, and the investigation found in 2017 found that the date of his death was 18.3.1945.
