Olishwski, Aharon

Son of Tuvia. He was born in the city of Slonim, Poland, in 1914. At the age of 19, he went with his comrades to various Zionist pioneering training centers in Poland. After two years of training, Aharon immigrated to Eretz Israel and joined the “BaMaleh” nucleus, where the members of the nucleus worked at odd jobs in the orchards. Aharon found it difficult to compete with the Arab workers who were accustomed to digging and digging, but gradually grew accustomed to life in Israel, learning Arabic and English. He joined the Kibbutz Kiryat Anavim near Jerusalem. He was a cheerful guy with a sense of humor, a smile always on his face. On the 5th of Kislav, November 9, 1937, he and three other members of the Jewish National Fund went to the work of preparing a road to reach a new point that was about to be built. When they reached Har Haruach, 5 kilometers from Kiryat Anavim, they were attacked by Arab rioters and killed on the spot. Aharon and his friends were laid to eternal rest in the Kiryat Anavim cemetery. The site of the murder was commemorated in the press and in a booklet published by the Gordonia youth movement in memory of them.
