Oberlander, Eliezer (Eli)
Eliezer, son of Devora and Shlomo Oberlander, was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1911. In 1933 immigrated to Israel and joined Kibbutz Givat Chaim. In 1947 he went to France to organize Jewish youth there for the “Defense”. At the outbreak of the War of Independence, when he returned to Israel with his apprentices, members of the Gahal movement, he tried to ease their immigration. On 17 Tishrei (20.10.1948), Eliezer was hit by two bullets and fell. Eliezer was brought to eternal rest in the Givat Chaim cemetery.
