Novellman, Yitzchok (Isaac)

Son of David and Deborah, was born on the 9th of Shevat, 12.1.1908 in a small village in Bessarabia, where he was educated in a “cheder.” Yitzchok together with his entire family immigrated to Israel in 1924. When the War of Independence broke out, Yitzchok decided to lend his hand to the fighters. In the army, he served in the Engineering Corps, reached the rank of lieutenant and was a road officer at the regional command. Yitzchok was about to rise to rank but on the day of the 21st of Tishrei 5710 (October 14, 1949) he died of disease and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Pardes Hannah. He left a wife, a daughter and a son. (His son continued his father’s tradition as one of the young commanders in the Golan Heights with the rank of captain).
