Normetov, Michael (Misha)


Ben Sarah and Amnir. He was born on 21.2.1944 in the city of Dushanbe, Tajikistan. A son of a workers’ family, a brother to Aelia and Larita. Michael attended the 25th State School in his hometown. He was a sports boy who was a lot of gymnasts and jumps. In his spare time he liked to read, draw, and thread baskets from wire and straw. In 1991, Michael completed his high school studies with honors and received a matriculation certificate. In the same year he was accepted to the physics and mathematics faculty at the Lenin State University of Tajikistan in Dushanbe. Due to the state of emergency that prevailed in the city, he finished his first year of studies with honors and the exams passed in an external format. Michael was a good and loving son and brother, a decent man and a model citizen. Everyone who knew him would remember his kindness and his loyal friendship. On September 2, 1992, Michael immigrated to Israel. After studying for four months in Hebrew ulpan, he began studying at the Bar Ilan University reserve, in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Programming. In September 1997, upon completion of his studies at the university, he began his service in the IDF with the rank of professional officer. After two years of service as an officer in the DCO, Michael suffered a serious illness and died on July 19, 1999, at the age of twenty-five. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents, brother and sister.
