Nissan, Samir (“Sami”)


Son of Nuri and Simcha. He was born in 1944 in Kirkuk, Iraq, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1951. He studied at the Weizmann elementary school and at the vocational high school in Acre, where Sami liked to read books, to do art and to do various handicrafts from wood and plaster. He was always kind and friendly, and was always ready to help his fellow workers, both at work and in money, and was drafted into the IDF in November 1961. After being discharged from regular service, he was called for reserve duty. On the fifteenth of Sivan 5706 (June 15, 1970) he fell while carrying out his duties. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Nahariya.
