Neftachi, David
Son of Rivka and Haviv was born on April 4, 1961 in Rehovot. His family lived in Moshav Beit Ezra and worked in agriculture. He studied at the elementary school in Moshav Emunim and continued his studies in a vocational school, specializing in mechanics. Prior to joining the IDF he took a pre-military course as a driver, and at the same time helped his father work in his farm, and in August 1979 he joined the IDF and served in the Armored Corps. He was trained in basic training and was later sent to the Load-Link course and the Tank Driver Course. On August 18, 1980, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal, on the day of the 28th of Iyar 5761 (June 1, 1981), when he was bathing in a waterfall in the Gilboa Stream in the Golan Heights, David was laid to rest in the Beit Ezra cemetery and left behind his parents, two brothers and a sister, and his unit commander wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “David was known among his friends and commanders as a devoted, diligent and loyal soldier.”
