Nathaniel, Nahum
Son of Nathan and Simcha. He was born in 1914 in the city of Narwa, in the Mosul district of Iraq, he immigrated to Israel illegally on foot in 1935. He worked as an apprentice and learned in evening classes, and served as an officer for eight years in loyalty and devotion. The War of Independence was outside his house and he bribed a British policeman to return us to the Old City, because not only was Nachum alive He lived there with his family, but he loved the place and did not abandon it, was appointed commander of the People’s Guard and took part in battles like a sniper, Ammon’s letters from the captivity were filled with joy that the land had been saved and his villages were flourishing, and he intended to continue his work when he returned, and nine months later he returned from his captivity to his family and to his country with fresh energy and plans in his future Lev. (At Habima House in Tel Aviv), and after the end of the assembly, on his way from duty, he was run over by a military car and brought to Qab Vera in the cemetery at Sheik Bader Bet in Jerusalem. On the 17th of Sivan 5761 (21.6.1951) he was put to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left a wife and four children. His nephew Eliahu fell in the War of Independence.
