Nahari, Jacob


Son of Amran and Leah. Born in Yemen in 1938 and immigrated to Israel in 1949 with his family, who settled in Moshav Givat-Kach. He completed his studies at the religious state school there and continued to study at the school in Einot. Jacob was raised on the knees of Torah and mitzvot until his last day was faithful to these values. He was a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement, as a trainee and later as a guide, and devoted most of his time to training. He taught at the Bnei Akiva branch in Herzliya-Amal and liked his friends and students. He also served as deputy director of the local youth center. Yaakov joined the IDF in the middle of February 1957, and completed his Habla course, serving as a trainee in regular service and in reserve duty, and after completing his service he served in the rabbinate in Tel Aviv. He was devoted to his parents and was meticulous in observing Matzah “Honor your father and your mother.” Even after he married a wife and established a home for himself, he was very attached to his parents. He was pleasant and courteous and liked people for his fair treatment of everyone during the Six-Day War He fulfilled the difficult task he was given and was awarded the war certificate on August 31, 1973. He fell in the line of duty and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Herzliya. He left a wife, a daughter and a son. The commander of his unit wrote in a letter of condolence to the family: “Yaakov was an exemplary soldier and throughout his service in the unit he fulfilled the tasks entrusted to him with dedication and efficiency, and it was he who chose the difficult positions, claiming he was able to fulfill and carry out much more than the burden on him.”
