Moshitz, Daniel-Israel-Aryeh

Son of-Hanna and Moshe-Eliezer was born on July 30, 1964, in London. Daniel immigrated with his parents to Israel in 1969, attended the religious elementary school “Example-Boys” and the “Nativ Meir” High School in Jerusalem. He successfully completed his high school studies and joined the hesder yeshiva at Har Etzion in Alon Shvut. Daniel was a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement and was a gentle, handsome, tall man who loved to play basketball. In April 1983, Daniel enlisted in the IDF, and after a period of training in infantry, he was transferred to operational employment in Lebanon, and in his service in the IDF, Daniel harmoniously merged two worlds into his personality. He continued to study religious studies, practiced in his unit, and did both things with honors, dedication and mental perfection. He loved the country, and in military service he saw a commandment that the existence of the country depended on it. Despite medical problems, Daniel insisted that he serve in a combat unit. He wanted to prove that he could be a Torah scholar, a yeshiva student, and excel in military service. Among the tools he carried with him in training and operations was a book of Mishnayot, which he studied every hour. Even in the evenings, in the tent, by flashlight, Daniel would read the Mishnah before he fell asleep. His pride was that he served on the front line. In this he proved to the doubters that it is possible to observe the mitzvah of Torah study, and at the same time to defend the homeland. Daniel tried to preserve the Jewish image even in the difficult conditions of battle in Lebanon. When he saw one of his friends picking fruit from a citrus grove in the village they passed through, he scolded him. When he went out to survey minefields in cultivated land, he was careful not to damage the vegetable beds, so as not to harm the livelihood of a Lebanese farmer. He was innocent, and he spoke little, and when he spoke his tongue was clean, gentle and polite. Daniel was a real soul. On the 12th of Adar 5745 (March 12, 1985), while on a tour, Daniel encountered a terrorist ambush. He was hit and killed. He was 20 years old when he died. After he was killed, Daniel was promoted to corporal, who was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, and was followed by his parents, two brothers and two sisters: “Corporal Daniel Moshitz was an outstanding soldier, , Loved everything. ” The commander of his unit wrote: “Danny was on the day of the incident on a routine operational tour, when he encountered fire from the ambush that led to his death, and his commanders and his comrades saw him as a fighter, who combined to be a bin Torah with the national obligation to serve his country. In his military service, Danny saw in his military service a mitzvah that he tried to fulfill in the best possible way, like the other mitzvot between man and his fellow man, a commandment he was anxious to keep, Kiss, revered by all those who work with him “
