Ben Bruria and Abraham. He was born on July 13, 1966, in Netanya. Brother to Ran, Ruth and Yael. Ofer attended the Tachkemoni elementary school and the Bnei Akiva high school in Netanya. In his youth, Ofer was active in the Bnei Akiva youth movement and every spare moment devoted himself to his work and creativity, which was also reflected in his various hobbies – copper works, designing clocks, lamps and pictures. In mid-August 1984, Ofer was recruited to serve in the IDF as a non-commissioned officer in the military rabbinate and served at the Tzrifin and Eilat food bases. After completing his army service, Ofer chose to study for an architecture engineering degree at the Ort Technicom School in Givatayim. Upon completion of his studies, he began to work in an architecture office and dealt with urban planning and buildings with the help of a computer. Ofer was outstanding in the talent and skill with which he performed his work and his ability to adapt the planned structure to the needs of the person. Sonino, the architect and city planner with whom Ofer worked, said: “His thoroughness, his understanding of computer-aided design and the merits of the matter, were an exceptional talent, Ofer’s human side was so refined and so deep that the work with him was beyond technical matters, In the first few days when he came to the office, it was hard for me to understand how a young man in this generation treated so respectfully, like a teacher or a teacher. We are not accustomed to receiving such treatment from the youth. “Ofer married Rachel and in 1995 their eldest son, Matan, was born, and a year later joined Family Ido. As a man and a family man, Ofer was characterized by many virtues: Derech Eretz, joy, purity of language, fear of God, love of people, endless devotion to his family, modesty and humility. He was a true friend in heart and soul. Everything he did was bright and pleasant to all around him. His sister, Yael, said: “There was a love of Torah and awe of God in every doubt that arose in him, and Ofer sought to investigate and demand, and if necessary, to ask the question of the wise and everything in modesty and quiet … There was no limit to the mercy of Ofer, Who did not feel Ofer when he acted and did, his entry and departure were hidden, as if he did not want to be felt, never had a heart or a eye to his eyes … Ofer always satisfied himself with a minimum … ” Ofer in the Galilee. Ofer was a highly self-disciplined soldier, who performed his duties with great precision and dedication, and created a good atmosphere around him and stood out in the bond of the courageous friends he had created with the soldiers of the unit. In addition to the tasks he was asked to perform, he distributed religious books to the outposts, addressed religious issues of soldiers from the field and transferred them to military commanders and rabbis, organized prayers in the minyan and initiated other activities to promote religious services for soldiers serving in Lebanon and the northern border. On October 8, 1996, Ofer was called up for reserve duty. On the day of his return to his unit on the eve of the evening he received, Ofer was killed in a fatal road accident at the Fureidis junction, when a truck that had deviated from its path hit a vehicle driven by Lt. Col. Dan Nadler And Ofer drove, causing their deaths. Thirty years old, Ofer was falling. Ofer was laid to rest at the Netanya military cemetery. Survived by a wife, two sons, two parents and three brothers. In a letter of condolences to the family, Chief of Staff Amnon Lipkin-Shahak wrote: “Ofer was described by his commanders as a soldier with high self-discipline who carried out his task with great precision and dedication. Ofer had a good atmosphere around him and stood out in the bond of the courageous friends he had created with his soldiers”Rabbi Ofer Levin was particularly polite to those around him and at the same time did not hesitate to advise the commanders above him on matters related to the army’s work in general and in the field of religious services in particular. As a professional engineer, as an artist with an artistic sense, as a painter with a developed imagination, Chelm Ofer dreamed of building a society of values that would deal with the building of the country, the observance of Torah and mitzvot, and the project of love of Israel. On his day, he was placed firmly on the ground, in the ground of reality, but he managed to climb up the ladder of Jewish values every day Unfortunately, if he had asked for himself, there would be modest requests: that God be with me, who would give me and my family bread to eat and clothes to wear and to return to. I am certain that Ofer looks down on his family and prays that despite this ‘stone that we are placing,’ the house will continue to flourish and be ‘the house of Gd’ as Ofer aspired and dreamed. ” His family commemorated him in a memorial plaque at the Shaarei Rachamim Synagogue in Netanya. A Torah library was established in his memory at the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in Netanya, and a study room was opened for study in the synagogue in Mishab, Neve Ganim, Netanya. These commemorative works are a continuation of his way of life, through Torah and work. From the words of his friend, Yoel Silam, at the inauguration of the study room: “… Ofer was educated according to the Torah and Avodah doctrine, identified with this worldview and with the way of life that he commits and behaved in accordance with this theory. , He was blessed with a delicate personality, shyness and human love, a rare combination of contentment, calmness, diligence, excellence, and responsibility … Ofer was a family man, who was connected to his extended family. A loving husband to his wife Rachel, and above all Ofer was father to Matan and Ido … Ofer was happy with them at any moment, and the love and pride of his children filled him … ” We have never been able to tell you that despite the difference between being secular and religious, we have developed a wonderful relationship, a system of mutual understanding, Trust and respect for the way of life that everyone has chosen for himself – just friends! … We will always remember you with that special sense of humor, inner honesty, simplicity, love of the land and your ability to see a person as he is, without prejudices. ” The family adds: “May it be His will that His memory will rise forever and ever.”
