Mizrahi, Benjamin

Son of Yosef. Born in 1922 in Jerusalem to parents born in Israel. Benjamin, his younger brother and sister, were orphaned from their father at an early age, and as the eldest son of his mother went to work to help support the family. His work was the sale of Davar newspapers, and his devotion and the degree of his responsibility earned him the esteem of his employers. During his spare time, he was active in Maccabi, where his national and social consciousness was consolidated. After the outbreak of the Second World War and the establishment of the Jewish infantry units of the Palestine infantry (the Baps), Binyamin was one of the first recruits to the Maccabi Company (Company 18), who underwent basic training in Zrifin and later moved to guard posts in Wadi Sarar. His friends and commanders admired and liked him for his easy temper and social behavior. During his service he participated in shooting training and became one of the best snipers in his company. During the holiday of Sukkot 5704, shooting training was held in preparation for the shooting competition of the company’s members in the regiment, and the best snipers were chosen to go to the South and practice shooting. There was also one of the cars that went out for training on 22 Tishrei, October 21, 1943. Unfortunately, as soon as the car drove out onto the main road, another military car collided with it and smashed into it. Binyamin was laid to rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery, leaving his mother, brother and sister. He was mentioned in” The Book of the Press, ” ” The Book of Volunteerism ” of The Jabotinsky Institute, as well as articles about his death and lists of his character in the “Yizkor” pamphlet of the “Maccabi” company and in the newspapers “HaMeshkef” and “Davar”.
