Mizrahi, Ben-Zion


Son of Hanna and Shmuel, was born in 1930 in Jerusalem. As a child, he was orphaned and educated in an orphanage. When he completed his elementary studies and went to work, he joined Hanoar Haoved, went to the Palmach and joined the Palmach, was a strong and naive young man, very social and restful, loving music and instrumental in flute, Zion was a member of a Zionist pioneering training unit in Tel Yosef, trained during the War of Independence, served in the Yiftach Brigade and went with his comrades to battle in the Valley and then in the Negev, and participated in the battles of Zandala and Zar’in and Operation Danny. To prevent the Egyptian forces from taking control of the area and to ensure the activities of the aircraft landing site that was built near Ruhama and was used for transportation The Egyptians tried to repel the Yiftach fighters from the captured strongholds, and during a month there were fierce battles in the area, and the fighters passed from hand to hand several times, on October 5, 1948. He was buried in Mishmar Hanegev. In the file “To Their Image,” of the fallen of Tel Yosef, a page was dedicated to his memory. On the 15th of Cheshvan 5710 (15.11.1949) he was put to rest at the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
