Mildemer, Salomon


He lived in London, England, and during the First World War he volunteered for the Jewish Legion – the 38th Battalion of the King’s Rifles. Together with his battalion he arrived in Palestine to participate in the conquest of the Turks. He participated in battles on the way to Nablus and in the battle over the Jordan crossings. On the 16th of Tishrei, September 22, 1918, during the battle for the capture of the Umm a-Shurt bridge, Salomon was hit and killed. He was buried in Israel. His name was immortalized in YH’s book. In an investigation conducted in 2017, it was found that he was murdered on Mount Scopus, Jerusalem, in Israel. His burial place is unknown.
