Merton, Mordechai

Son of Avigdor-Moshe and Blima. He was born on August 31, 1928 in the city of Tika, Romania. Graduated from elementary school. He belonged to the Dror youth movement. Immigrated to Israel in 1947. Immediately joined the ranks of the Haganah and participated in the War of Independence in the conquest of Haifa and the battles that took place in the Upper Galilee. In October 1948 he was wounded in the battle for Metula, was transferred to the hospital and from then on was ill. He died in his illness on 14 May 1950 and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
