Marzuk, Bassim
Son of Yosef and Moheiba. He was born on August 3, 1959 in Abu Sinan. He completed his elementary studies in his native village and later moved to the comprehensive Druze school in the village of Yirka, where he studied additional general frameworks for regular studies. He was a good student, diligent and disciplined. After completing his studies, he worked in a garage in Nahariya and was employed there as a car mechanic. In the garage he loved the workers, kept good friendships with friends and customers, and everyone respected and admired him for being quiet, kind, doing his job well and trying to make everyone’s will. Bassem was an outstanding athlete and one of the members of Hapoel Abu Snan. In the framework of the high school he was a member of the Gadna and also taught at Gadna classes. Bassem was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1977 and assigned to the Minority Unit. After basic training, in which he was trained as a combat soldier, he was sent to his unit and served as a driver. He was a good soldier, devoted and responsible. He was always proud of his service in the Israel Defense Forces and aspired to fulfill his duties efficiently and to the satisfaction of his commanders, and on 28 March 1978 he fell to the cemetery in Abu Sinan, leaving behind his parents and eight brothers and sisters. The bereaved commander wrote: “Bassem was among the best soldiers in our unit and belonged to the next generation of the Druze community. Bassem had the lofty values of a man who lived and grew up in a free country and for which he fell. When he fell he left behind an empty space in the Lev of us all. The image of Bassem will accompany us for a long time and his memory will not be used from among us. “
