Mar’i, Zuhair
Ben Linda and Gaber. Zuhair was born in Hurfeish on July 29, 1965. He attended elementary school in the village and completed his high school studies at the Tarshiha High School, where he received a full matriculation certificate. Zuhair joined the IDF in 1983 and served in the 300 th Brigade. During his service he completed a course for sergeant brigade commanders. At the end of his regular service, Zuhair served in a permanent year. Upon his discharge from the IDF, Zuhair joined the Border Police, serving in the West Bank, Ramallah, and Jerusalem. Zuhair’s family says he was very kind, always smiling, respectful to his parents, and all his acquaintances and surroundings liked him very much. He was deeply involved and loved by his friends in the village and beyond. Zuhair was very fond of sports. Advanced Sergeant Zuhair fell on the Mehola road while carrying out his duties on January 25, 1994. He was twenty-nine years old when he fell. He was buried in the military cemetery in Hurfeish. Survived by a woman – Amethys, and three children – Diana, Rodina and Cloud. Zuhair’s name is commemorated at the monument of the Martyrs of the Jordan Valley, in Daliyat al-Carmel and in Yad Labanim.
