Marciano, David


Son of Avraham and Miriam. He was born on 27 June 1957 in Morocco. In 1962, he immigrated to Israel with his family, where he studied in the State Elementary School and the Amal High School, and since his early years he was a good friend of his mother and raised his brothers and sisters. David worked in various jobs, but especially liked the carpentry profession, and during his spare time he used to paint, and in early May 1975 he was drafted into the IDF, and because of his ill health he was stationed in the Haganah, where he served as cook and storekeeper. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and his commanders appreciated him and said: “He was a good soldier who, despite his low physical fitness, asked with all his might to move to a combat unit.” 1978 David called reserve service, and at his request was assigned to civil defense units operating in the area of ​​Kiryat Shemona. In a barrage of Katyusha rockets on the city on December 21, 1978, David fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Safed. Survived by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. In a letter of condolence to the family, the then Minister of Defense, Ezer Weizman, wrote: “On behalf of the Prime Minister, the Government of Israel and my authorized name, I wish to participate in all my Lev in your mourning. Sergeant David Marciano gave his life for his homeland. He fell in a terrorist attack on Kiryat Shmona. Sergeant David Marciano was a good soldier, an exemplary friend and loved by all who knew him. “His commander wrote:” With David’s presence in the unit and the beginning of his service in the reserves, he showed a strong desire to succeed in every mission and task assigned to him. The rapid integration of the symbol of David Marciano in the discharge of his duties and in his relations with his friends and commanders aroused love for him and created a positive atmosphere around him. ” The family commemorated him by setting a memorial plaque bearing his name.
