Manus, David


Son of-Gracia and Issachar was born in Petah Tikva on January 22, 1964. David was a member of a traditional family with many children and attended the religious state school in his neighborhood, Ganei Tikva, and after completing his elementary studies, – the professional book “Miftan.” Shortly before he enlisted in the IDF, David worked with car-buster. In January 1982, David enlisted in the IDF and was assigned to serve in the Air Force in his position as a maintenance officer, and was sent to courses for professional training and further education. David took a course in a car workshop, and when he returned from the course, the managers of the workshops struggled to win and receive service in their departments. He was a disciplined soldier, loved by people and very devoted to his family. David tried to help his father support his family, and during his vacation from the IDF he obtained odd jobs and rented a message to his parents: David was awarded a certificate of excellence by the base commander in October 1984, during which he was sent to another course to complete his education. A year and a half later, on March 13, 1986, his body was discovered in a cave near Deir Balut, where the security services exposed a terrorist cell that admitted to kidnapping David and strangling him. On the 14th of Adar 2, 1986, at the military cemetery in Petah Tikva. He was 20 years old. He left behind his parents, five sisters and a brother. Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin and his unit commander wrote in letters of condolence to his family: “David was a personal example of his friends, he was chosen as an outstanding soldier, he received a certificate of appreciation from the commander of the base where he served,
