Mansharov, Jonathan


Son of Yocheved and Aharon, was born on September 22, 1931 in Petah Tikva. From childhood he had known grief and worries about earning a living. When he was two, his father died, and his mother raised him and sent him to elementary school. During the Second World War, his brother, who served in the British army, fell. Jonathan was forced to bear the burden of supporting the family and working hard in a factory. He was a member of the Irgun Zvai Leumi (National Military Organization), and at the outbreak of the War of Independence he participated actively in the battles in Ramle, Judea, and the battles of Jaffa. Jonathan fell in battle during the occupation of Rosh HaAyin on May 30, 1948, before he was 17 years old. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Petah Tikva.
