Mallat, Abraham


Was born in the city of Libau, Latvia on September 23, 1930. At the age of four, his parents immigrated to Israel and settled in Yokneam, where he attended elementary school in the village and at the Yavneh High School in Haifa, He served in the Negev, where he guided young recruits from different strata, succeeded in becoming fond of them and instilling in them an understanding of the purpose of our war and the willingness to sacrifice, and in the course of their activities, instilled in them a sense of security and courage. Avraham was responsible for the position near Bir Asluj, which took part in its conquest as a fighter and commander, and fell there on 11 July 1948. He was brought to eternal rest in Beit-El In his letter home, three days before his fall, he wrote: “I know that you are not alone, you are not alone, many are the parents in Israel who are afraid of their children, and many are also those who lost their sons.”
