Magar, Zev
Son of Rachel and Leibel (Yehuda Aryeh). Born in 1897 in the town of Zaklikov in the Lublin district of Poland, he served as the president of the Zionist Organization in the town, and he earned a living by leasing a flour mill and an electricity station operated by the river, as well as forests and fishing areas near the town. He was a rabbi and cantor and during the holidays he passed before the “Taivah.” He was considered the town’s rabbi and in 1935 immigrated to Eretz Israel with his family, settling in Haifa and working as a wagon driver. On 29 Cheshvan, 23.11.1938, Zev carted wood in his cart from the port to the warehouses, was suddenly shot by an unknown person and brought in critical condition to the government hospital, where he died. He was buried in the new cemetery in Haifa. Survived by his wife and three children.
