Lyankov, Yevgeny (David)


Overnight and Alexander. He was born on the 17th of Tammuz, 5771 (8.7.1971) in the city of Baku, in the USSR. He liked to play basketball and studied sports, and even participated as an actor in the youth theater. He continued his studies at the university, studied medicine for two years and completed computer courses. Yevgeny loved classical music, and jazz. He played two years on the guitar, and along with this love he devoted many hours to reading, especially classical literature and books on nature and life. He excelled in chess and was very prominent in his graphic paintings. He was an outstanding student and a source of pride for his family. He was an only child. He and his mother had a very special relationship, a warm and open relationship with a great deal of respect and sensitivity to one another. Yevgeny felt the ‘man’ in the family and was very supportive and helpful. In 1990 Yevgeny immigrated to Israel with his family. At the end of March 1992, Yevgeny was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the air force as an administrative employee, and his friends called him David, who suffered from asthma, but never allowed the disease to take control of his life and become a focus. On July 8, 1992, he fell during his service and was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Holon. Survived by his parents. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Yevgeny (David) arrived at our unit after basic training, and despite his short stay, he worked well in his workplace and showed great motivation, dedication and caring for the job.”
