Luxenberg (Luxembourg), Israel


The eldest son of Helena and Mordechai. Born on July 7, 1916 in the city of Kashnov, Poland, his family lived in the city of Bojaten in Upper Silesia, where he grew up in Germany, where he grew up and studied at a Jewish school and went on to study humane studies at the Hindenburg High School. In addition, he studied religious studies with private teachers and with his father, who was ordained as a rabbi and received a traditional and Zionist education in his home, and was a member of the “Ha-Mizrachi” youth movement in Germany. When the Nazis came to power, Israel was forced to leave school, and Israel, realizing that there was no future for Jews in Germany, decided to immigrate to Eretz Israel. In 1935 he was able to realize his dream of immigrating to Eretz Israel, where he joined the Rodges group near Petach Tikvah and then worked as an agricultural laborer in Moshav Kfar Hasidim. He was a member of the Haganah and joined the ranks of the Carmel Forest protectors, who were forced to protect against Arab gangs for a period of time. As a guard for the maintenance of railway installations in Haifa. On 5 Iyar, April 24, 1939, he was shot and killed by Arab assassins from the ambush along with his friend Joseph Broitmacher (Falkowitz). He was brought to rest in the martyrs’ section in the Haifa cemetery. The story of the event was published in the newspapers of the period, and an article in his memory was published in the booklet “Kofar Hishuv”.
