Lifshitz, Yaakov (“Ya’avi”)
Son of Moshe and Tzipora. He was born on July 9, 1949 in Tel Aviv. He studied at the AD Gordon Elementary School and continued his studies at the “Shevach” vocational high school, he had the muscular body of an athlete and played soccer and basketball, and by nature he was soft and had a “Lev of gold.” He was a member of the United Movement, cheerful and full of vitality and was eager to take part in the nuclear celebrations. And at the same time he was shy and embarrassed, and he was very fond of social and musical entertainment, and his enthusiasm, when he was a minister, swept his friends who joined Yaakov was drafted into the IDF in September 1967 and volunteered to serve in the Nahal Brigade, where he did not tell the army about his life and his life at home. And in the Nahal, Sinai, and finally in the ditch, for which he was an entire family and he was an inseparable part of this Simcha family, (27.4.1970), was killed while shelling the area of the Suez Canal. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. The commander of his unit wrote to his bereaved family in a letter of condolence that Yaakov was a good soldier and fulfilled his duties loyally and with devotion. He was also very fond of his friends and commanders and was the living spirit of the group. He contributed greatly to raising morale at the outpost. The group and the Tze’elim group published a booklet called “Sad Flowers” in its memory. In the newsletter of the Shevach school in June 1970, his teacher, Shaul Avi-Shaul, published an article in his memory.
