Levi, Eyal Moshe

Levi, Eyal Moshe

Son of Helen and Mordecai. He was born on the 24th of Cheshvan 5737 (24.11.1973) in Ashdod. Eyal attended the “Ilanot” elementary school and another two years in the junior high school in the Ashdod Comprehensive School. Eyal studied communications and electronics at the “Bezeq” College in Jerusalem. At college, Eyal studied for five years, where he shaped his personality and became a self-confident, independent, surrounded by friends, swept by his natural charisma and the joy of life that radiated from him. Out of his qualities as a “born leader,” he liked to help the weak and protect them from the strong people who abused them. Other friends who had become Eyal, but Eitam preferred to be alone, were the books he liked to read and the dogs he had trained, with whom he liked to run wild on the beach at leisure. In July 1991, Eyal enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces for the Signal Corps, and Eyal set out for an officers’ course, and Eyal’s dream was to serve as a combat soldier, and on the recommendation of his commanders he was assigned to the paratroopers and served as a liaison officer, “Eyal was a very professional officer. He has shown endless dedication and responsibility, and in his incessant initiatives he has promoted the field of communication exceptionally well. Eyal was critically injured in the attack at the Sharon-Beit Lid junction, and Eyal fought for his life for a week, but his great love for life did not stand up to his struggle. On Sunday, (28.1.1995) Eyal died, while twenty-one additional soldiers and one civilian were killed in the attack, while Eyal was buried at the Ashdod military cemetery and left behind his parents and two sisters, Adva and Efrat. Eyal’s sister wrote after his death: “A year has passed since the last time you told us peace on your arrival / year What without you, Eyal /! Without the smile and the rolling laugh that swept everyone who hears. / And now the big picture in the empty room / is the only smile left of you / And the room is so empty without you / Still shrouded in the smell you left behind / Dark white walls waiting for your return / But you will not return. Since then you have gone and / or the laughter is no longer playing / only the crying for you is not getting louder, only the talk and longing for those beautiful days, and the songs that you loved them are still heard / remembered and then in the throat the lump is growing again. And it will hurt … “
