Levi, Ephraim


Son of Rivka and Shimon was born on November 27, 1914, in Jerusalem, where he studied at the Geula Elementary School and then continued his studies at the Beit Hakerem High School, Defense “for many years and also served in nitrates for a year. He found his livelihood as a carpenter. In 1942, he volunteered for the British driver’s corps, and immediately upon the establishment of the Jewish Brigade, he moved to serve in the British army. He excelled at the Italian front. Upon his return to work and to the defense, and with the outbreak of the War of Independence, after the UN General Assembly decided on 29 November 1947 to divide the country into two states, he volunteered for service in the Jerusalem Brigade and was severely wounded by sniper fire when he was on duty in northern Talpiot and the next day, (17.5.1948), died of his wounds. He was buried in Sanhedria. Left a wife and three children. On the 29th of Elul 5711 (30.9.1951) he waslaid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
