Lev, Moshe (Max)
Son of Frida and Yehoshua was born on December 13, 1913, in the port city of Wilhelmshaven, Germany. In 1936 he immigrated to Israel, settled in Haifa and found his livelihood by working in his profession. He immediately found the way to the Hagana. During the bloody riots of 1936-1939, he was a volunteer guard at Kiryat Haroset. During the Second World War, he volunteered for the British Army. He participated in battles in Egypt and Libya and attained the rank of sergeant. In May 1948, he joined the Golani Brigade. He participated in battles in Lubia and the Negev. On 28.1.1949, when he returned from the Negev for a vacation, he died in a road accident about a kilometer in front of his house, on the section of the road between Sha’ar Ha’amakim and Kiryat Amal. He was buried in Kiryat Amal. On the 11th of Iyar 5751 (17.5.1951), he was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa.
