Leoncini, Gabriel (“Gabi”)
Son of Yaakov and Olga. Born in Haifa on March 5, 1940, he attended the Daughter of Galim Elementary School and the Dvir High School in Ramat Gan. From an early age, his personality was characteristic of the first generation of “sabras” in his family, which was not influenced by the Diaspora atmosphere. A dynamic personality, which requires real achievements, and to a certain extent neglects the reality of life with all its limitations. It was impatience and thirst for action that prompted Gabriel to enlist before his graduation. He was drafted into the IDF in August 1957 and volunteered for an elite unit, which enabled him to carry a long service in the Arava and not to be deterred from dangerous missions. He was always ready to meet the challenges and take on daring roles, and in this spirit he also served in the reserves during the Six-Day War and in the war against terrorists in the Jordan Valley.
