Kondiashvili, Menachem (Manny)

Ben Esther and Tamzi was born on the 17th of Shvat 5743 (17.1.1983) in Lod, a brother to Tammy and Pnina, who was a friendly boy surrounded by many friends, a prominent figure among the neighborhood’s children, who called him “the heart of the neighborhood.” He was very fond of writing poems and stories, and Manny attended the Habanim elementary school and the ORT Lod high school in the communications and film department, and soon the profession became a real passion and took a central place in this period of his life The final project he chose in the twelfth grade was a documentary about a soldier killed in a road accident. He spent a lot of nights editing the film, and finally, along with his classmate, created an exciting film that ironically became the personal tragedy of his life. In many of the school ceremonies, Manny took part as a soloist and as a conductor. His great love was music. For hours he sat in front of the computer with headphones and listened to songs. Manny was a joyous boy who loved to dance, to spend and to use every moment of his life to the fullest. At the end of June 2001, Manny presided over the high school graduation ceremony, which gave him and his family great happiness and looked like a milestone for a bright future. A month later, in July 2001, Manny was drafted into the IDF, was assigned to combat engineering and began basic training, and his ambition was to succeed in becoming a warrior who only wanted to defend the homeland. Manny fell in the line of duty when he was eighteen. Manny was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Lod. Survived by his parents and two sisters.
