Yaakov, son of Simcha and Joseph, was born on August 1, 1954. He was very popular with his new friends and was appointed head of the cultural committee at the school’s boarding school, where he took advantage of every opportunity to go on trips, and wandered about the country, inquiring about the vegetation, inquiring about the ways of life of the animals. “He had a sensitive and examination eye, a developed aesthetic sense and the patience required for a good photographer.” In addition to his artistic activity in the field of photography , Kobi also contributed to the entertainment life of his school. He turned out to be an excellent entertainer. “When Kobi was on the stage, we knew that we had an enjoyable evening, and even without preparing, he knew how to excite us.” He was devoted to his parents, and when he came home on weekends and holidays, he helped with the housework and talked with his sisters and his younger brother, Ilan. He was devoted and serious in his attitude to things that required seriousness. He knew he had a heavy responsibility as the eldest son. Yaakov was drafted into the IDF in mid-October 1972 and assigned to the Armored Corps, and during the basic training period he became an outstanding trainee and a responsible soldier, and he performed every task he was given impeccably, never complaining or complaining. He was assigned to serve in the armored infantry unit. He took part in a course for half-track drivers and served for several months in the Suez Canal area, “one of the members of the unit called him” the peace dove, “he recalls. “He knew how to deal with everyone and knew how to arrange things.” Another member recalled: “Every morning we had to wash the floor of the room, and then the question arose: who would go for water?” He began a discussion, bargaining, When a soldier from the unit was depressed, a floor approached him and talked to him until he was better off. He took part in every mission, either because he was charged or because he volunteered. He was an excellent soldier and a loyal friend. During the Yom Kippur War, Yaakov participated with his unit in battles in Sinai. For a week he fought bravely and devotedly in the braking battles against the Egyptians. On October 12, 1973, he was critically wounded during an attack on the “Fez” stronghold, and died the next day at Hadassah Hospital. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents, brothers and sisters. After they fell, he was promoted to a corporal rank. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “We, the companions of the late Jacob, remember his courage and dedication.
