Katz, Lewis

Lewis, son of Tova and Menachem Katz, was born on 13.4.1914 in Berlin, the capital of Germany. He was an architect. After many wanderings and hardships in Europe under the yoke of the Nazi regime, he reached Spain, and on the first ship he emigrated to Eretz Israel in 1944 and came to his parents in Tel Aviv. The atmosphere of the country gave him the feeling of freedom. Here he had many friends. Lewis was a lover of freedom, did not like limits and restrictions, because the memory of the Nazi concentration camps which he experienced, terrified him. He lived only four years in Israel. He was a devoted son and cared for his parents. Lewis fell in Haifa on the 8th of Elul 5708 (September 12, 1948) and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak.
