Jacobs (Jacobs), Shlomo (Salon)

During the Second World War, Shlomo responded to the call of the national institutions and enlisted in the British army, the cavalry corps. With his unit, Company 602, he served in various places and was finally sent to the Western Desert. Shlomo was a good soldier, fulfilled his duty with dedication and loyalty and was rewarded by the rank of sergeant (sergeant). On the 29th of Av 5740 (August 29, 1940), a sergeant fell in battle near Tobruk and was buried in the military cemetery near El Alamein. He left a wife and six children. His name is commemorated in “The Book of Volunteerism,” in the book “Conquerors and Builders,” in “The Book of the Press”, and in the book “Yizkor” of the Jabotinsky Institute.
