Hoyzer, Leon (Liv)


He was born in the city of Galz, Romania, on February 28, 1948. He immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1947 and joined one of the kibbutzim and stayed there until the day he was drafted in. Leon volunteered for the Palmach, Harel “and moved to the Palmach camp in the Jerusalem area, where he took part in the battles in Jerusalem and took part in the liberation of the city of Lydda.In the middle of July, the second truce was due to come into effect and army commanders decided that the Arab Legion forces in Latrun, On 17 July 1948, Leon went to battle with the units that took over the outposts over the Arab village of Beit Nuba. In this battle he fell and his burial place is unknown. His body was found in February 1950. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. His parents and two sisters arrived in Israel after his fall.
