Hita,Baruch


Son of Shimon and Batia. He was born on December 17, 1921 in Bedzin, Poland. Completed seven elementary school classes there. From the age of 13 he was one of the “Gordonia” activists and strove to immigrate to Eretz Israel at the age of 17. He left Poland for Russia to travel through Vilna with the intention of immigration. However, he was lucky and caught by the Russian school corps and sentenced to four years in prison. After his release he was transferred to the Russian army and a few months later was transferred again to the Polish army; Where he served for three years and was awarded medals of honor. After the Second World War, he moved to Kibbutz Nili, where he served as secretary and counselor, and helped to open the Gordonia branch there. In 1946 he left Germany for Italy, and after his eight-month stay in Eretz Israel, he immigrated to Israel. He was deported to Cyprus and did not get to the homeland until 1949. He also belonged to the Haganah in Cyprus and gave his hand to the Gordonia movement. After his arrival, he was a military instructor in Bet Guvrin. On the 27th of Elul 5710 (August 27, 1950) he fell in the line of duty with four of his friends and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. He left a wife and a daughter. His name and history were presented in a book called “Pinkas Bedzin”, which was published by an organization of former residents of Israel.
