Hertsman, Shlomo


Son of Yehiel and Black. The father is a member of the Third Brigade, a member of the Labor Battalion in Ein Harod and of Tel Yosef. He was born on March 31, 1927 in Tel Aviv. He completed an elementary school in the Borochov neighborhood and the Montefiore Technical School in Tel Aviv. He belonged to Hanoar Haoved. After completing his studies at the Montefiore School, he joined the Palmach and while he was in the ranks of the Palmach, he took part in several important activities. During the War of Independence, he participated in accompanying convoys to Jerusalem and was also one of the last convoy to Gush Etzion. After returning from the “Gush” he joined a pilot course. Since the end of 1948, he devoted himself to aviation and was an air navigator in the career army with the rank of captain. He was a member of the team that flew the military delegation to Yugoslavia in 1953. In 1954 he left for France on a short mission. Was injured in the course of his duty and on the 10th of Kislev (10.12.1954), twelve days after his injury, he died and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left a wife and a daughter.
