Havkin, Shraga
Son of Chava and Chaim, was born in 1928 in Zajar, Lithuania. He immigrated to Israel in 1947 and lived in Rishon Letzion. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, Shraga and Shirat enlisted in the Givati Brigade. In preparation for the resumption of hostilities after the first truce, Operation An-Far was planned to break through the Negev. However, the Egyptians violated the truce and attacked it on the night of July 7-8, 1948, seized several outposts and disrupted the plan. As part of the operation, our forces attacked the night of July 8-9, and the Givati forces occupied the Ibdis outpost, northeast of the Negev. In the days that followed, the Egyptians carried out repeated heavy attacks on the outpost and the Givati fighters, with stubborn defense, repulsed them. In these battles he fell on the 3rd of Tammuz 5707 (July 10, 1948) and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Beer Tuvia
