Hartom, Reuven


Son of-Yael (nee Cassuto) and Rabbi Eliyahu-Shmuel, was born on March 8, 1928 in Florence, Italy, to a religious-Zionist family. His fondness for agriculture had been ingrained in him since childhood. Reuven immigrated to Israel on 13.9.1939, studied at the elementary school of the Rodges Group in Jerusalem and Magdiel, and at the agricultural school in Mikvah Israel. He was a member of the “Takuma” nucleus of HaPoel Hamizrachi and participated in the Negev. Mikve Israel joined the Haganah through the “Elitzur” sports organization to which he belonged. In January-February 1948 he was partially recruited in Jerusalem. When he enlisted, he was part of the religious department that participated in the “Nachshon” operation. There was a weapon and a weapon at the exit. He fell on the fifth day of Adar 2 5708 (April 5, 1948) during the attack on Motza. He was buried in the Sanhedria cemetery in Jerusalem. On March 25, 1968, his bones were put to rest in the cemetery on the Mount of Olives.
