Hamami, Abraham


Son of Simcha and Ezra, was born in 1926 in Turkey and was 10 years old when he immigrated to Israel in 1936. The large family immigrated to Eretz Israel in an illegal “immigration” through the northern border, and settled in Rishon Letzion. Avraham completed the local elementary school, studied trade and became a perfect baker. He was a member of the Haganah and aspired to training and settlement. At the beginning of the War of Independence he joined the Givati ​​Brigade. Avraham participated in the “Nachshon” operation in Tel Arish and in the “Yoav” operation to break through the Negev. On the 1st of Cheshvan 5709 (November 3, 1948), she took part in activities to tighten the siege on the “Ploja pocket” and fell in battle on the sixth outpost, south of the Negev, and was put to rest at the Warburg military cemetery.
