Halevi, Yair

Halevi, Yair

Son of Shoshana and Shlomo. He was born on March 9, 1966 in Tel Aviv. He began his studies at the Yeshurun Elementary School in Holon and continued his studies in computers at the “Youth Village” yeshiva in Jerusalem. During the course of his studies, Yair was fond of everyone – students and teachers – and even stood out in his achievements. In January 1985, when Yair was drafted into the IDF, he discovered to his disappointment that he would not be able to serve in a combat unit and was sent to serve as a soldier at the Beit Guvrin base, but soon recovered and decided to go to an officer’s course. He was stationed in the Arava infantry regiment about one-third, and a year later, when he received the rank of deputy, he was promoted to the position of assistant officer for brigade brigades. Already in the battalion, and later in the brigade, Yair’s name came out as an industrious, diligent and orderly officer, and beyond that a pleasant, calm and cheerful man with a great smile. On the 21st of Kislev 5749 (21.11.1988), shortly before his scheduled release, Yair fell in the line of duty and was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Holon. Yair left behind his parents, Ah-Shalom and four sisters – Naomi, Dalia, Ruth and Ayala, who published in his memory a booklet containing the words of his friends, commanders and members of his family. They also commemorated his name in a Torah scroll in the Heichal Ramot Synagogue in Jerusalem.
