Hagag, Meir


Son of Fortuna and Yehuda. Meir was born in Tunisia on the 23rd of Cheshvan (25.11.1948). He spent his childhood in Tunisia. In August 1956, when he was seven and a half years old, the family immigrated to Israel. Meir enlisted in the IDF on December 7, 1966. He was assigned to the Intelligence Corps, underwent a military driving course and served as a commander driver. Meir was a modest and pleasant soldier, smiling and loved by all. On 29.9.1967, a few months after the Six-Day War, while Meir was in the Gaza Strip during his military service, he was seriously injured in the head in a car accident. Meir died at Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva on the 17th of Kislev, 27.11.2007. He was forty nine years old. He was laid to rest in the new cemetery in Be’er Sheva, leaving four sisters and two brothers. After his death, his family decided to donate his corneas to patients who needed it and helped them recover.
