Habercorn, Isaac
Son of Salameh and Joseph. He was born on August 14, 1919, in Gleiwitz, Upper Silesia. In his youth he was active in the Zionist Youth Organization in his area of residence and in 1935 immigrated to Eretz Israel. Here he spent two years in Tel Hai’s youth society. Afterward he worked in the Tel Aviv Port Company and was among its outstanding employees. He also worked for a time in Son of Shemen and with members of the “Mishmar HaDarom” group in Ein Shemer. From there he went with his friends to a training group in Gan Yavneh. On August 26, 1938, he volunteered to go out with two of his friends to reinforce the drilling of wells in the Negev. On the way, between Be’er Tuvia and the tower, there was a serious accident to the car they were driving. After they could not get help from the passing buses, Yitzhak joined the driver of an Arab bus to call for help from the nearest police station. On the way an Arab gang attacked the bus, the driver managed to escape but Yitzhak was shot dead by the gang. He was brought the next day for eternal rest in the Gan Yavne cemetery. On Yitzhak’s way of volunteering in the midst of the bloody riots, his friends said: “A lottery took place for those who went out to this guard … The friend’s friend got up in a conversation crying and said that she had no one else in his life. : “I will go out in his place, because I have no one to cry after me.” His history was commemorated in the book “Elite-Youth” by Bracha Habas.
