Gutmacher, Benjamin


Son of David and Dora. He was born in the city of Sibiu in Romania, where he studied until the fifth grade (elementary) and with the family’s family in Israel in 1958. He settled in Be’er Sheva where he continued his elementary studies and graduated from Tze’elim School The city’s high school, where his parents urged him to go to university before he could be drafted, but he obeyed his conscience and was loyal to his national duty, and was rejected by his university studies after his service. He was a member of the Gadna and was drafted into the IDF in August 1965 and served in the Armored Corps as a liaison officer before the Six Day War In the battle itself, on the first day of its battles, on the 5th of Iyar 5727 (June 5, 1967), he fell in a battle south of Rafiah, claiming that he was in the first tank of the company commander Amnon Giladi, He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva, and his memory was included in the “Be’er Sheva Beer Sheva” magazine in the section “Respect for the Fallen – Condolences for Families.” His name was immortalized in a booklet in memory of the fallen that was published by the ” seven. In volume 4 of “Goily Ash,” the school bag of the fallen sons, was brought from his estate. A memorial corner was established in his name at the Armored Corps Club.
